"The extermination will be conducted gradually, starting in the first quarter and lasting until the fourth quarter of the year," Elssandi, the head of Mukomuko district's animal husbandry and agriculture office said here on Thursday.
He said the district administration had allocated Rp50 million from its budget to purchase Strychnine alkaloid to poison the stray dogs.
However, before conducting the culling operations officials from the animal husbandry and agriculture office would explain the program to local residents.
Elsandi called on owners of dogs in Mukomuko district to tie up their pets to avoid being poisoned.(IGT)
