Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Chairman Suryo Bambang Sulistyo reported the chamber's plan to hold a "Jakarta Food Security Summit" (JFSS) to Vice President Boediono at the latter's office here on Tuesday.
"We reported things related to a plan to organize a Jakarta Food Security Summit in February this year," Suryo said after being received by the vice president.
He said the Jakarta Food Security Summit was a follow-up to "Feed the World, Feed Indonesia" program that would be attended by a number of ministers from other countries.
According to him, food problem was a crucial issue being faced by almost all countries around the world, and therefore the JFSS in Jakarta in February would indicate that Indonesia also deemed food problem was very important.
He added that the JFSS this time would also function to strengthen food industry sector, agribusiness, animal husbandry, and fisheries in Indonesia.
"Food industry sector in Indonesia has an outstanding prospect and therefore we have to pay more attention to its development," Suryo said.
According to him, the development in food industry sector, agribusiness, animal husbandry, and fisheries would be able to encourage much better economic growth in the country.
He said the Jakarta Food Security Summit would take place at the Jakarta Convention Center from February 7-10,2012 as a follow-up to the activities of round-table, workshop, symposium, and dialog of related experts from June to November 2011.(T007)
