BP Migas operations deputy Rudi Rubiandini said in a press release in Jakarta on Sunday that the 15 projects will have a gas production capacity of 1,158 million cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) and 35,200 barrels of oil per day.
"Most of the projects will start producing in the middle or end of 2012, so that contribution of the average annual gas production addition will reach 400 MMSCFD and 15,000 barrels of oil per day," he said.
The projects which will be producing included the 39th, 40th, and 54th in West Madura Offshore (WMO) block with operator PT Pertamina Hulu Energi WMO 13,600 barrels per day starting in the third quarter of 2012.
Then the South Mahakam 1 and 2, Mahakam block operated by Total E&P Indonesia in the fourth quarter of 2012 with 250 MMSCFD, and 20,600 barrels of oil per day.
The other projects are Terang Sirasun Batur with operator Kangean Energy which will produce 300 MMSCFD of gas in the second quarter of 2012.
Rudi said the additional production of the projects is an effort of curbing the declining natural production of oil.
"We are trying to curb the drop from 12 to three pct," he said.(**)
