Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesia has the potential of becoming one of the world's ten countries that apply environment-based business practices toward the realization of sustainable development in 2050.
Indonesian Business Council for Sustainable Development Special Adviser Neil Frankliln said here on Monday that sustainable development was an effective approach to economic development because it was well-structured to reduce the impact of climate change.
"Thus, sustainable development policies are an effective approach and therefore Indonesia needs to enter into new partnership with many countries and civil society who care about the environment," Neil said.
He said that in the future sustainable development would be a comprehensive solution to increase the value of a company from commercial side and social dimension.
"There will be great business opportunities by the creation of even more new valuable products and services," Neil said.
Meanwhile, World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) Regional Director Marcel Engel said Indonesia was the youngest but an important member in the sustainable development program.
"With its relevant relation in the political, environment, and economic aspect, Indonesia is the country of priority for the WBCSD," Marcel said.(**)
