Nusa Dua (Antara Bali) - The Eighth ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (ASEAN-BIS) is being organized here on November 16-18 by the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC)  to coincide with the 19th ASEAN Summit.

"The ASEAN Business and Investment Summit this time is being held amid  concerns that the world economy may again become sluggish due to the financial crisis in the European Union," Trade Minister Gita Wirjawan said at the Bali International Convention Center here on Wednesday.

The ASEAN BIS brings together private and public sector organizations, heads of government and captains of industry from within and outside ASEAN for dialogue and networking, and provides an interactive platform to advance industry and business in the region.

This year, the ASEAN-BIS adopts the theme of the 2011 ASEAN Summits, namely "ASEAN Community in a Global Community of Nations".

Among topics of discussion during the summit are "Reinvisioning the 21st Century Global Economic Architecture",  "the Harbour of Investment"  and "Strengthening Partnerships amidst Uncertainty".(**)
