Denpasar
(Antara Bali) - The Communications and Information Technology Ministry is
putting together a "whitelist" of websites that give positive
information to educate people and counter the spread of racial issues
and hateful speech.
"So far, this `whitelist` has 150 thousand websites launched since 2015. These websites should be accessed for improving the educational sector. We hope there will be more such," Communications and Information Technology Minister Rudiantara said here on Monday.
In addition to rustling up the whitelist, the ministry is also identifying negative websites that contain porn, racial issues or hateful speech.
Until now, the minister noted, about 800 thousand websites have been included in this "blacklist."
He added that the "whitelist" and an appeal to apply ethics while communicating via social media will be more effective to prevent the spread of negative content on social media, in addition to applying regulations.(WDY)
