Kupang, E. Nusa Tenggara (Antara Bali) - Manpower and Transmigration Minister Muhammad Hanif Dhakiri inaugurated a migrant workers' village at Tagawiti Village, East Ileapa Sub-district, Lembata District, in East Nusa Tenggara Province.
"Minister Hanif arrived last night, and this morning, he flew to Lembata to inaugurate the migrant workers' village in Lembata," East Nusa Tenggara Governor Frans Lebu Raya stated in Kupang on Tuesday.
This statement was made in connection with Hanif's working visit to Lembata after his arrival in Kupang on Monday (Aug. 29) night.
In addition, Hanif's visit to Lembata is aimed at directly reviewing the issues related to labor in the district.
"He will thereafter review matters related to housing in the migrant workers' village in Lembata," he remarked.
Furthermore, the governor stated that the inauguration of the migrant workers' village was in accordance with the rule on village protection for migrant workers, a derivative of Regional Regulation No. 20 of 2016, which mandates that the rule itself permits the building of a village for migrant workers.
Besides inaugurating a village for migrant workers, Hanif is also visiting Lembata to directly check the readiness of the region to hold Archipelago Day.
"Lembata will host Archipelago Day 2016. The event will also be attended by President Joko Widodo, so Minister Hanif's visit also aims to directly evaluate the preparations," he added.
Archipelago Day 2016 will feature a parade of boats, nautical sports, as well as various maritime festivals, including the Wonderful Sail 2 Indonesia.(WDY)
