Jakarta (Antara Bali) - House Speaker Ade Komarudin has supported the government's policy to carry out the third wave of executions as part of the legal enforcement process.
"Legal verdicts should be respected and implemented, no matter how bitter they are," he stated here, Monday.
Capital punishment is necessary to serve as a deterrent effect, he noted.
Indonesia has yet to complete the revision process of the Criminal Code in the current or next session of the House.
In the meantime, spokesman of the Attorney General's Office Muhammad Rum affirmed that the office was still collecting data related to the death row convicts, who will be executed.
"We are ready, meaning we are still preparing the data. Once it is completed, we will make an announcement," he remarked.
Attorney General HM Prasetyo has indicated that the third wave of executions would be carried out soon.
"You see the preparations that we made yesterday. I have even reviewed the activities in Nusakambangan where the arrangements are being made to carry out the executions," Prasetyo pointed out on July 15.
Similar to last year, the prisoners would be brought to Nusakambangan to face executions, he stated.
Prasetyo refused to disclose the names of death row inmates due to face the firing squads but confirmed that there would be more than two convicts and will include Indonesian, Nigerian and Zimbabwean citizens. (WDY)
