Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Bali's State Logistics Agency (Bulog) has as yet no plan to conduct rice market operations in the province because local rice prices have remained stable.
Bulog spokesman Wayan Suyasa said here on Saturday local farmers were still harvesting their paddy in Badung, Gianyar, and Denpasar and therefore rice market operations were not necessary.
In addition, inter-island rice trading between Java, Bali, and Lombok had remained smooth and prices stable so there was no need for Bulog to conduct market operations.
Wayan said rice prices at traditional markets in Denpasar had remained stable within a range of Rp6,500 to Rp7,000 per kilogram.
Rice prices in Bali have remained stable although the island's Hindu community was preparing to observe their annual Galungan and Kuningan festivities on December 8-18, 2010, Wayan said.(*)
