Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Tourism Ministry has launched Tour de Singkarak international bike race in 2015 or the 7th of its kind which will take place in West Sumatra from October 3 through 11.
The bike race event that will involve 24 teams from 36 countries was launched in Jakarta on Sunday night in the presence of noted figures such Prof. Emil Salim, former Environment Affairs Minister and chairman of Regional Representatives Council (DPD) Irman Gusman.
According to the Tds organizing committee chairman Sapta Nirwandar, of the 24 teams originating from 36 countries will include five best team from Indonesia.
The event altogether extended over nine stages, during which the participants will cover 1,343.1 kilometers or longer than last year`s 1,250 kilometers, he said.
All the racers will pass through 18 districts and cities in West Sumatra, Deputy Assistant to Deputy Personal of market segment Development of Ministry of Tourism, Raseno Arya pointed out in Padang on last Saturday.
All teams have confirmed their schedule of arrivals in Padang, he stated.
The following is the schedule of TDS 2015.
- Stage 1: October 3, 2015, starting from Carocok Beach, Pesisir Selatan District, finish in Gondoriah Beach, Pariaman. The length of the stage is 163.2 kilometers.
- Stage 2: October 4th, 2015, starting from Regent Office of Padang Pariaman District, finish at SMAN 1 Sumani, Solok District. Length of stage is 140.2 kilometers.
- Stage 3: October 5, 2015, starting from Tourism Village, Sijunjung District, finish at the Sport Centre, Dharmasraya District. The length of stage is 206.3 kilometers.
- Stage 4: October 6, 2015, starting from Sawahlunto city, finish in Padang Aro in Solok Selatan. The length of stage 171.6 kilometers.
- Stage 5: October 7, 2015, starting from Ngalau Indah, Payakumbuh city, finish at the Office of Limapuluhkota District head. The length of 136.5 kilometers.
- Stage 6: October 8, 2015, starting from the Clock Tower in Bukittinggi, finish at Istano Baso Pagaruyung, Tanah Datar. Length of the route 116, 8 kilometers.
- Stage 7: October 9, 2015, starting at the Bonjol Equator in Pasaman, Pasaman Barat, finish at Regent Office of Pasaman Barat. The length of 121.1 kilometers.
- Stage 8: October 10, 2015, starting from the Pasaman Barat District head office, finish at Lawang Park, Agam Distric. The length of stage 138.1 kilometers.
- Stage 9: October 11, 2015, starting at Padang Panjang city, finish in the Padang city. The length of stage 148.6 kilometers. (WDY)
