Bandung, W Java (Antara Bali) - West Java Province was scheduled to host the seventh Indonesia Open X-Sport Championship (IOXC) which will take place on October 2 to 4, 2015 under the auspices of the Youth and Sports Ministry, an official has said.
"The number of IOXC participants is expected to reach 350 people," West Java deputy governor Deddy Mizwar said here on Sunday, adding that foreign participants are among others from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Germany, France and Canada.
They will fight over prizes totaling Rp409,000,000. One U.S. dollar equals to around Rp14,240.
Meanwhile, head of the Adventure Sports, Challenge and Tourism affairs section of the Youth and Sports Ministry, Bambang Hermansyah explained that IOXC objective is to empower the community especially among the young people in order to develop their potential for extreme sports, such as BMX bikes, skate boards, roller skates and basketball, as well as making it as a potential tourist area.
"We want to protect them (sportsman), who are from the streets and have no space to show their capabilities and achievements," Hermansyah added. (WDY)
