Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The International Monetary Fund denied suggestion that its managing director Christine Lagarde will discuss financial loan for Indonesia during her stay in Jakarta.

Lagarde, who will arrive in Jakarta on Sept 2 for a two-day visit is to attend a scheduled conference organized by Bank Indonesia  and the IMF on the future of financial system in Asia, a senior resident representative of IMF for Indonesia Ben Bingham said here in statement on Sunday.

Bingham was commenting on wide mas media reports that Lagarde would discuss financial assistance for Indonesia  saying the reports are baseless.

"The speculation that the visit of the executive director is to discuss IMF loan for Jakarta is entirely unfounded," he said.

Lagarde is scheduled to meet President Joko Widodo, Vice  President Jusuf Kalla, Coordinating Minister for Economy Darmin Nasution, Finance Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro  and Bank Indonesia Governor Agus Martowardojo.

Lagarde also is to meet parliament, women and student leaders to exchange views on economy , Indonesian  prospects  and the country's role in regional global affairs.

Earlier, Coordinating Minister for Law Security and Political Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan already said  that Largade would not discuss loan with Indonesian leaders.

Luhut said Lagarde would meet President Joko Widodo to convey IMF's view of  ways to maintain economic stability .

"Indonesia would not seek new loan from IMF. We have nothing to do with IMF  and no one  could intervene the government of Indonesia  and President Joko Widodo," he said. (WDY)
