Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The government through the National Bureaucracy Reform Briefing Committee plans to streamline the state institutions for budget efficiency and to improve performance.
State Minister for the Empowerment of State Apparatuses and Bureaucratic Reform Yuddy Chrisnandi said Vice President Jusuf Kalla agreed with the audit of 144 state institutions now in process at the ministry.
Yuddy said his ministry would hand over the result of the audit to President Joko Widodo and the vice president for recommendation.
The ministry would also carry out field observation before the president gave the recommendation that the real condition in the field could be considered by the government in making a policy.
The priority in auditing is given to a number of institutions under the government authority.
A number of state institutions would be liquidated, restructured or merged into other more effective institution, Yuddyi said giving no name.
"Soon, there would be state institutions liquidated at the start of the government of President Jokowi and Jusuf Kalla," he said, adding "institutions, considered not contributing to the national development programs, or only wasting budget fund would be liquidated," he said.
The minister said his office hopes to wrap up the process of audit in September 2015.
"We will report the results of the audit to the government, the president and vice president," he said.
He promised that the civil servants of the liquidated institutions would have their rights , saying they will be assigned to other state institutions.
Vice President Jusuf Kalla held a meeting on the program with a number of related ministers including Coordinating Minister for Law, Security and Political Affairs Tedjo Edhy, Law and Human Rights Minister Yasonna Laoly, Coordinating Minister for Economy Sofyan Djalil, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Indroyono Soesilo, and Minister Yuddy Chrisnandi.
Minister at the State Secretariat Pratikno, Chief of the Presidential Staff Luhut Pandjaitan, Cabinet Secretary Andi Widjajanto, Minister for National Development Planning Andrinof Chaniago also were present at the meeting on Thursday. (WDY)
