Denpasar, Bali (Antara Bali) -- The Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) in West Java will host the International Students Energy Summit (ISES) in 2015.

"This program aims to create leaders in the energy sector who are committed to advancing the world towards a sustainable future," an organizer of the event, Hilman Syahri Fathoni, said here on Thursday.

The event to be hosted by the institute in Bandung will begin with an energy field trip that will involve traveling to a number of regions in Bali province.

The summit will also include a Student Case Competition as a side event in which participants will compete to develop biomass energy from bamboo waste.

ISES is a biannual conference held by the Student Energy Organization and local universities, Fathoni stated.

This conference gathers students with different academic backgrounds from all over the world to discuss global energy-related issues.

"At the conference, energy experts of the world will discuss a variety of topics, including access to energy, investment in renewable energy sectors, and ways to reduce carbon emissions," Fathoni pointed out.

He added that connectivity in energy offers far more advantages than simply illuminating houses or giving the community access to enjoy energy.

This interconnectedness can unite ideas, open opportunities to share new perspectives, and connect people from other parts of the world and of different generations, Fathoni affirmed.

"ISES is an opportunity for students to come together and share their perspectives and knowledge. This conference allows us to develop capacity to overcome complex energy and environment issues," Executive Director of Student Energy Organization Kali Taylor said.

Moreover, this conference proves Indonesia`s commitment to work towards a bright future for the global energy sector as well as to gain the world`s trust in the capability of Indonesian students to develop energy, Taylor remarked.

The four-day summit has invited 660 student delegates from 100 countries and 70 national and international experts on energy and environment. (WDY)
