Jakarta (Antara Bali) - President elect Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said here on Thursday that one stop service would be adopted for business licenses for all government agencies .
For that purpose a Coordinating Body for Capital Investment (BKPM) and Industrial License would be established as the licensing authority, Jokowi said.
"Process of licensing for all ministries would be centered at BKPM and Industrial License," he said commenting on an economic road map prepared by leading economists and technocrats.
Jokowi and vice president elect Jusuf Kalla received a copy of the road map from the Association of Indonesian Businessmen (Apindo) here on Thursday night.
Jokowi said prospective investors have complained about too much red tape in licensing procedure.
Prospective investors could wait for 6-8 years before they have their business license, he said.
In addition there have been conflicting licenses and overlapping as each ministries act as licensing authority, he said.
In a province in Kalimantan, there were 857 such conflicts involving a number of ministries , he cited.
"That is a fact only in one province . You can imagine how many such conflicts have hampered project implementation all over the country," he said.
In the future prospective investors need to deal only with one agency BKPM and Industrial License in seeking business license, he said.
Jokowi also spoke about difficulties in land clearing, one of the problem often faced by investors.
Land clearing is a difficult problem not only faced by the private sector but also by the government in building public infrastructure projects, he said.
"Human approaches would be adopted such as practiced in Jakarta in relocation of people to give space for government projects," the president elect, who is still governor of Jakarta.
Jokowi reminded Indonesian companies of their tax obligations, saying, there are still many companies seeking tax evasion.
Apindo general chairman Sofjan Wanandi said there are five sectors that could revive the country's economy -- food and farm sector, energy, manufacture , services and finance.
The five sectors and related sectors, legal certainty, regional autonomy, bureaucracy reform, manpower, and infrastructure are included in the "Apindo Economic Road Map" presented to the president and vice president elect.
The Road Map especially gives greater stressing on infrastructure sector, which is vital for the development of all economic sectors. (WDY)
