Nusa Dua (Antara Bali) - Personnel from regional military and police commands have been jointly deployed to strengthen security arrangements ahead of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) meeting in Bali on August 28-30.
"A multi-tier security arrangement is in place, including Ring 1 zone covered by military personnel and outside the zone secured by the joint teams of military and police personnel," Chief of Bali Regional Police Inspector General Albertus Julius Benny Mokalu as deputy commander of UNAOC VVIP Security Operations stated here on Wednesday.
He emphasized that heightened security will be provided to the heads of states, ministers, and officials, venues of activities, routes to be taken by delegates, and hotels where the guests will stay.
"It has all been arranged based on standard operating procedures," he noted.
The meeting themed "Unity in Diversity" is scheduled to be inaugurated by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and attended by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Timor Leste`s President Taur Matan Ruak, and several other ministers. (WDY)
