Tangerang, Banten (Antara Bali) - South Tangerang's Regional Communication Forum (Forkominda) has been urged to be on guard regarding the spread of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) network in the region.

"Forkominda should be able to detect the ISIS network and prevent it from entering South Tangerang," South Tangerang Mayor Airin Rachmi Diany stated here on Thursday.

Airin noted that ISIS is a radical movement that has to be tightly monitored.

Therefore, he will coordinate with Forkominda to anticipate the spread of the ISIS network and work towards driving it out of South Tangerang.

Besides this, he will work closely with the police of South Jakarta and Tangerang and religious figures in the fight against the spread of ISIS in the district, particularly in South Tangerang.

"The police on several occasions have discovered the terrorist network in South Tangerang, and therefore, we have to anticipate the entry of ISIS in the area," Airin remarked.

According to the Indonesian Islamic Mass Organizations Coalition (KIIN), the ideology of ISIS poses a threat to the integrity of the Unitary State of Indonesia.

"The ISIS ideology is against the Islamic teachings and tends to mislead the people. The ISIS ideology is a threat to and endangers the integrity of the Unitary State of Indonesia," KIIN Coordinator Hery Sucipto stated in a press conference in Jakarta, on Wednesday.

Hery, who is also the spokesman of the Indonesian Mosque Council, noted that the emergence of ISIS, which uses religious issues to disseminate its propaganda, was feared to be easily accepted by the Indonesian people, particularly those with minimal education.

The KIIN hoped that the people will remain alert against provocation by certain parties related to the ISIS, he remarked.

"The Prophet has taught Islam, which is full of love. Islam teaches blessings for all or Rahmatan Lil Alamin. This is far different from the ISIS propagation, which uses violence, cruelty, and barbarity in its actions," Hery pointed out. (WDY)
