Melbourne (Antara Bali) - Indonesia's Vice President Boediono delivered a general lecture before hundreds of students at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, on Friday.

During his lecture, Boediono emphasized that education, innovation and technology were important factors in improving people's welfare.

The presence of Vice President Boediono at Monash University, as one of its alumni, was warmly welcomed by Australia's Education Minister Christopher Pyne, and the rector and the students of the university.

Boediono completed his undergraduate program at the University of Western Australia in the field of economics and then proceeded to the post graduate program at Monash University.

Melbourne is the third Australian city that the vice president will be visiting during his state visit to Australia from November 10 to 16.

Earlier on Sunday night, the Vice President had arrived in Perth, Western Australia, to attend a number of events, including one at the University of Western Australia.

The Vice President also met Western Australian Premier Colin Bernett.

Boediono's next stop was Canberra, where he held a bilateral meeting with Australian Prime Minister Toni Abbott.

In Canberra, Boediono also visited the Australian National University, where he was awarded an honorary doctorate degree in Social Sciences. (*/DWA)
