Beijing (Antara Bali) - Five Indonesians are facing death sentence on charge of drug trafficking in China.
The five all women , were arrested by the Anti Smuggling Agency of the Guangzhou city in the province of Guangdong on charge of smuggling drugs into China.
They were arrested at the International Baiyun airport separately between August 26 to Sept. 7 when they were about to return home to Indonesia.
The Indonesian embassy in Beijing said on Saturday it would provide consular assistance and legal aid that they would be treated properly .
The embassy warned Indonesians that drug traffickers face the maximum penalty of death in China.
Most Indonesians found involved in drug cases in China served as couriers for international drug syndicates mainly based in Africa. (*/DWA)
