London (Antara Bali) - Saint Quentin city administration, Picardie, France, in cooperation with Galerie Saint-Jacques and Swiss batik collector Gaspard de Marval, is holding a batik exhibition dubbed "Batik Javanais, Sekar Jagad".

Saint Quentin's Deputy Mayor in charge of cultural affairs Stéphane Lepoudère said the batik exhibition is an appreciation of the French government, in particular Saint-Quentin city, to batik that has gained recognition as a UNESCO intangible world heritage.

The batik expo is being organized from March 27 until May 12, 2013 and was officially opened by Stéphane Lepoudère.

He said  the government and public pay great attention to Indonesian culture and art, including Batik.

The first batik exhibition in Saint-Quentin is showing about 200 batik collections, such as patterns from Java, Madura, Sumatra, Sulawesi, and Kebaya that shades of Batik. (IGT)
