Jakarta (Antara Bali) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is on a two-day visit in Liberia to formulate global development programs based on the mandate of the United Nations, particularly on the elimination of poverty after 2015.
After flying for 19 hours from Indonesia, the President who was accompanied by Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa, arrived in Monrovia, Liberia, and directly held a bilateral meeting with Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
The two leaders jointly chair the High Panel on the Post-2015 Millennium Development Goals together with British Prime Minister David Cameron.
The Panel was set up by the United Nations to collect inputs and recommendations for making development strategies especially after the completion of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGS) in 2015.
Following their bilateral meeting, the two leaders held a joint press conference. President Yudhoyono said he was proud for being the first Indonesian president to visit Liberia.
Yudhoyono invited the Liberian president to also visit Indonesia next March to discuss global development, particularly poverty elimination. (*/M038/T007)
