Nunukan, E Kalimantan (Antara Bali) - An Indonesian school in Malaysia's State of Sabah will organise  sports and art week from February 8 to 10, 2013.

"Previously, this event was organised for the students of the Indonesian Junior High School. This time, it is being organised for the students of the Community Learning Centre (CLC) in Sabah," said the Indonesian Consulate General in Sabah, Soepeno Sahid, in Kota Kinabalu on Thursday.

He added that students of the CLC in the West Coast area and the hinterland of Sabah will participate in the programme.

According to him, the programme is aimed at bringing Indonesian elementary students in Sabah closer together and spreading nationalism through sports and art activities.

The event will allow Indonesian students and teachers in Sabah to interact with one another.

"There will be sports competitions and cultural performances too," said Soepeno.

An Indonesian School Head Master in Kinabalu, Dadang Hermawan, said funds for the programme had come from donations and the Elementary Education Directorate General for Education and Culture.(*/DWA)
