Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Deputy chairman of the House of Representatives (DPR)'s Commission IX on labor affairs Irgan Chairul Mahfiz of the United Development Party Faction (PPP) said he was ready to accommodate the aspirations of workers.
"We think that workers have so far staged demonstrations because of lack of communications between the government and the workers," Irgan said here on Friday.
Therefore, he said, his party was ready to accommodate the workers' aspirations with regard to the Social Security Management Agency (BPJS) and the National Social Security System (SJSN).
He said that workers had so far been staging demonstrations to reject Law No. 40. 2011 on BPJS and SJSN, mainly because they lacked communications and information so that they did not fully understand the essence of the establishment of agency.
The Commission IX deputy chairman said that the government should popularize the law on BPJS as soon as possible to workers so that they would be well informed of its real substance.
Irgan said that the law on BPJS was deliberated in sessions of the House's three sitting periods. The deliberations were also monitored by workers. "But it is surprising that now workers are holding demonstrations to reject the law," he added. (*/M038/T007)
