Nusa Dua (Antara Bali) - The Indonesian police have appointed state surveyor company PT Sucofindo to audit the security management system of 111 star-rated hotels in the resort island of Bali, a spokesman said.
"Actually, the 111 star-rated hotels have their security management system certified in accordance with the 2004 references. But because the current condition has changed it must be audited by the competent party, namely PT Sucofindo," chief of the Bali chapter of the Indonesian Hotels and Restaurants Association (PHRI) Tjokorda Oka Sukawati said following the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Bali provincial police on the security system of tourism accommodations on Tuesday.
The audit will give priority to three-star to five-star hotels because they have much contact with foreign and domestic tourists, he said.
By auditing the security management system of the star-rated hotels, tourists will feel more secure and convenient while staying in Bali, he said.
Meanwhile, Sucofindo operations director II Ganis Ramadhani said most of hotels and restaurants in Bali have applied security management system in accordance with instruction from the local chapter of the PHRI.
"Star-rated hotels, ranging from three-star to five-star hotels in Bali have met security standards particularly with regard to instruments but their security management system still falls short of international standards. Therefore, we will audit it in coordination with the PHRI and the Bali provincial police," he said.(*/M038/T007)
