The state minister for development of backward areas has pledged  to improve the welfare of 50 of 183 backward regencies in the country to bring them level with other areas in five years.

ASKATI chairman Mulyadi Jayabaya said each of the 50 district  would need at least 100 billion to reach the target in 2014.

Mulyadi said  the deadline for the five year program  is only two years away in 2014 but not much  headway has been made.
