Denpasar (Antara Bali) - The number of foreign tourists visiting the tourist island of Bali has continued to increase despite the global economic woes.
In the first six months of the year, the number of foreign arrivals at Bali's Ngurah Rai airport totaled 1.3 million or an increase of 7.73 percent from the same period last year.
The Bali tourism office said most or almost 60 percent of foreign holiday makers in Bali flew in here directly from their respective countries.
Meanwhile, Sunarto, the assistant director of Bank Indonesia in Bali said the tourism sector is the largest contributor to Bali's economic development.
The sector contributed 32.28 percent to the Bali's economic growth in the first quarter of this year, Sunarto said here on Tuesday.(IGT)
