Bengkulu (Antara Bali) - A number of foreign tourists from the United States were interested in visiting the Tikus Island in Bengkulu to enjoy its wondrous underwater beauty.
A tour guide by the name of Reno said that both domestic and foreign tourists had evinced interest in the Island.
"I had earlier come here with seven American tourists who wanted to discover the beauty of Tikus Island¿s underwater attractions," Reno said here on Monday.
Apart from its wonderful underwater view, the Island was also in the news for a controversial loading and unloading coal activity from a ten thousand ton weighing barge in recent times.
The Island has a great potential for marine tourism including diving, snorkeling, surfing and fishing.
However reports suggest that abrasion on the western coast has threatened to reduce the land area of the Island from 2 hectares to just 0.85 hectares.(IGT)
