Jakarta (Antara Bali) - State Enterprises Minister Dahlan Iskan has appealed to state-owned companies (BUMN) to provide a special room in their offices for caring for babies as a way of showing their appreciation to women.

"I have talked with PT Pertamina and PT Telkom Indonesia about opening a special baby-care room in their offices. Let this become a movement," he said in his address at a BUMN Marketing Award event here on Wednesday.

Dahlan said besides offices, BUMNs also has factories and they are requesting that they also provide baby-care rooms.

He said the rooms were important so female employees who have babies could care for their babies while continuing to work.

He noted that usually a female employee who has just had a baby would stop work and focus on caring for her baby. This would often affect her company's performance since women employees are considered figures who boost a company's performance.(IGT)
