Jakarta (Antara Bali) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono conferred Indonesia's highest distinction for environment-related achievements, the Kalpataru awards, on a number of people from various walks of life.
        
On the occasion of the World Environment Day at the State Palace here on Tuesday, the President presented 12 awards in four categories: environmental pioneer, environmental devotee, environment rescuer, and environment builder.
        
The Kalpataru awards for the environmental pioneer category were given to Galuh Saly of Batumandi village in the South Kalimantan district of Balangan, Ishak Idris of Kelurahan Iboih village in Sabang, Aceh, and Ali Mansur of Desa Jenu village in the East Java district of Tuban.
        
Recipients of awards in the environmental devotee category were Siti Badriyah of Gunung Kidul district in Yogyakarta, Ali Muryati of Binjai city in North Sumatra, and Rahmat Arifin of Sungai Penuh city in Jambi.
        
The awards for the environment rescuer category were presented to Setia Kawan Dairy Farmers' Cooperative at Tutur village in Pasuruan district, East Java, and to Oi Seli KP3 Group of Maria Utara village in the West Nusa Tenggara district of Bima.
        
President Yudhoyono presented the awards for the environment builder category to Oto Sidin of Sungai Raya village in the West Kalimantan district of Kubu Raya, Josrizal Zain of asal Kelurahan Balai Nan Tuo village in Payakumbuh city, West Sumatra, and to R Haryo Ambar Suwardi of Jambidan village in Bantul district, Yogyakarta.(*/M038/T007)
