Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Dengue fever cases in Denpasar, Bali, have reportedly increased between January and April 2012, a local health official announced.
"The number of dengue fever cases reached 200 during the period," said Denpasar health department chief Luh Sri Armini here on Wednesday.
Armini asserted that every related party must be prepared for a potential dengue outbreak, although there have been fewer dengue cases this year than in the same period last year.
"In 2011, there were reportedly 300 dengue fever cases during in the same period," Armini pointed out.
Even though the incidence of dengue fever typically tends to increase after January, so far there have been no reports of casualties resulting from the mosquito-borne infectious disease.
According to the Denpasar health department's data, each subsequent month shows a significant increase in the number of dengue cases, Armini noted.(IGT/T007)
