Denpasar (Antara Bali) - A 15-member delegation from the Thai province of Yala led by Deputy Governor Nattapong is making a comparative study in Bali in the fields of tourism, agriculture and city management.
While in Bali, the Thai delegation also held a meeting with Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika, the head of the Bali provincial government's public relations and protocol bureau, I Ketut Teneng, said here on Thursday.
He said the meeting between the Bali governor and the Yala deputy governor in the company of Sirichanadan chief executive the Yala provincial administrative organization Muktar Matha took place at the former's office on Wednesday.
The governor warmly welcomed the Thai delegation's visit which according to him could strengthen friendly relations between the two ASEAN member states, particularly Thailand and Bali, Teneng said.
"There is no much difference between Bali and Thailand when it comes to physical condition, culture and other matters," Teneng quoted Mangku Pastika as saying.
In reply to a question from one of the members of the Thai delegation on how the Bali provincial administration overcome the rising population growth, Pastika said the province had dealt with it by making a spatial layout plan.
The spatial layout plan also functioned as a tool to develop sustainable tourism industry which was expected to be able to promote the local people's living standard and control population growth, he said.
The Thai delegation arrived in Bali on Wednesday for a two-day comparative study.(*)
