Ambon, Maluku (Antaranews Bali) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is scheduled to open the 30th Congress of Islamic University Students Association (HMI) in the Maluku provincial capital of Ambon on Wednesday, Governor Said Assagaff remarked here on Sunday.
The governor of Maluku reiterated that the president will open the first ever congress in Ambon that will be attended by thousands of HMI cadres from across the province.
"The Presidential Palace has confirmed that President Jokowi with a number of Ministers will arrive in Ambon city on Tuesday evening and open the HMI congress the next day," Assagaff said.
President Jokowi's visit to Ambon is the third of its kind and as proof of concern of the head of state on the progress of development in Maluku province.
"The presence of the head of state along with a number of ministers in Ambon needs to be appreciated and welcomed by all Maluku people because it will have a major impact on the development progress in this area," the governor said.
In addition to opening the HMI congress at the campus of Pattimura University (Unpatti) on Wednesday, President Jokowi will also review Village Cash Labor Intensive program in Batu Merah area, and then inaugurate the use of the Hindu Center and Buddhist Center at the Siwalima Museum area.
