Jakarta (Antaranews Bali) - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) during 2017
has rehabilitated 1,523 drug abusers both at rehabilitation centers and
in Penitentiaries.
"And (BNN) has provided post-rehabilitation services to 7,829 former drug abusers," said BNN chief, Com. Gen Budi Waseso at BNN office, Cawang, East Jakarta, on Wednesday.
Abusers who have passed the primary rehabilitation period then follow the ongoing rehabilitation program at Rumah Damping House with several programs designed for the recovery of former drug abusers, in order not to relapse, he said.
"The Assistance House was built with the aim of bringing former abusers, to the point of total abstinence and decreasing the recurrence rate commonly experienced by former drug abusers," said Waseso.
In this house, former drug abusers are equipped with skills to improve the quality of life and open up new opportunities for them to be productive again, to be more independent and ready to return to the family and community environment, he said.
?In 2017 there were 1,178 former drug abusers who have participated in the program at the Assistance House.
"In addition to providing rehabilitation services for drug abusers, BNN is also in the development of the Rehabilitation Center in Lido, Bogor as a center for assessment, service and training in the field of drug abuser rehabilitation," the BNN chief said.
As a first step, BNN through the Deputy for Rehabilitation has made a road map of development, analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges that the agency will face as a National Narcotics Rehabilitation Center, he said.
"In the coming year, all the development programs will be carried out," Waseso added.(WDY)
