Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Minister of Communications and Information Technology Rudiantara here on Monday officially launched a program to improve human resources capacity in the field of cyber security.

The program is a partnership of a number of institutions such as the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, PT Xynexis International, the Association of Higher Education on Computer Science (APTIKOM) and Noosc Academy.

The program will distribute the trained human resources to the industries that increasingly need cyber experts.

MCIT said currently, human resources in the field of cyber security has not been optimal in terms of quantity and quality, while the information and communication technology is growing rapidly and has been penetrating many industries.

The minister added during 2015 the number of cyber attacks in Indonesia reached about 28 million, while in 2016 at more than 28 million.

Executive Director of the Association of Higher Education on Computer Science Solikin said currently there are 1,000 universities having computer science major with 400 thousand students, 15 thousand teachers and 2,000 diploma programs.

He said, this has become a great potential to generate human resources in the field of information technology security.

Xynexis Managing Director Eva Noor said the human resources capacity building program titled ¿Born to Control selects 100 of 10 thousand applicants to be included in the training camp for 14 days.

While in the camp they will be trained with cyber security materials and have access to the industry, she said.

The program is held in ten cities, namely Medan (North Sumatra), Palembang (South Sumatra), Denpasar (Bali), Manado (North Sulawesi), Jakarta, Bandung (West Java), Yogyakarta, Malang (East Java) and Makassar (South Sulawesi). (WDY)
