Langsa, Aceh (Antara Bali) - The social affairs ministry has provided aid worth Rp2.3 billion to help Rohingya asylum seekers being accommodated in four temporary shelters in Aceh Province.
"The aid is given in the form of goods," the ministry's Director of Social Protection of Natural Disaster Victims Margowiyono said here Sunday.
The donation is distributed in the four shelters respectively located in the districts of East Aceh, Aceh Tamiang, Langsa and North Aceh.
A total of 1,759 Rohingya and Bangladeshi are being accommodated in Aceh, comprising 564 people in Punteut, Blang Mangat sub-district in Lhokseumawe city, North Aceh; 672 in Kuala Langksa, Langsa; 476 in Bireun Bayeun, Rantau Selamat sub-district, East Aceh District; and 47 others in Aceh Tamiang District.
East Aceh receives among other things emergency tents, mattress, food, blankets, family kit and kids wear. The aid is worth Rp611 million.
Aceh Tamiang District receives aid worth Rp171 million; Langsa Rp609 million; and North Aceh Rp931 million.
The donation was presented by Social Affairs Minister Khofifah Indar Parawansa when she visited the shelters in Langsa and East Aceh. (WDY)
