RI`s Squad Moves to Final After Playing with Vietnam 2-2

Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Indonesian soccer squad (Timnas) "Garuda" moved into the final round of the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki 2016 championship after a 2-2 draw against the Vietnamese team Wednesday evening.

On Saturday (December 3, 2016), the Timnas Garuda defeated the Vietnamese team 2-1 in the first leg of the semifinal, which was held at the Pakansari Stadium, Cibinong sub-district, West Java Province.

Earlier, Vietnam had emerged as the winner of group B.

The second leg of the semifinal took place in My Dinh stadium in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Data of the official social media of AFF monitored from Jakarta, showed that with a 2-2 draw Indonesia won 4-3 on aggregate after winning 2-1 in the first leg.

With this victory, Indonesia will challenge the winner between Thailand and Myanmar in the final.

Previously, Thailand had emerged as the winner of group A, and the Timnas Garuda was the runner up.

In the second leg of the semifinal, the Timnas Garuda player Stefano Lilipaly scored the first goal in the 54th minute, and the second goal was netted by Manahati Lestusen in the 104th minute after extending of time.

Meanwhile, for Vietnam, Vu Van Thanh scored the first goal in the 82nd minute, and Vu Minh Tuan scored the second one.

The Timnas Garuda had ensured a place for itself in the semifinal after beating Singapore 2-1 (0-1 at half time) in a match at the Ridzal Memorial Stadium, Manila, the Philippines, on Friday (November 25), emerging runners-up in group A with four points. Thailand topped group A with nine points after beating the Philippines 1-0 the same day.(WDY)
