Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesias Finance Minister Sri Mulyani has
asked civil servants in her ministry to take steps to curb all
corruption.
The ministry has intensified its supervision against corruption
and will evaluate the cases of those detained by the Corruption
Eradication Commission (KPK) for involvement in graft.
"We have strengthened (supervision) with the cooperation of the
internal obedience directorate, intelligence and other elements, and
will carry out evaluation in respective units," Sri Mulyani assured
while speaking at the Risk and Governance Summit (RGS) 2016 here on
Monday.
The event was held under the theme, "Ethical Governance: The Soul of Sustainability."
The minister expressed her disappointment with the fact that an
official of the Taxation Directorate General was arrested by the KPK
last Monday for alleged corruption.
The taxation official, identified by his initials HS, was arrested
by the anti-graft agency at a time when the government has been
implementing a tax amnesty scheme.
HS betrayed the principles of governance, efficiency and honesty
applied by the Finance Ministry in general and the taxation directorate
general in particular, she lamented, adding that publics trust was
needed for successful implementation of the tax amnesty program. (WDY)
