Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The World Bank considers Bank Indonesia as an institution that has become a model of growth in the region.
The international bank's opinion was based on various facts, such as the economic growth stability, human resources and membership of the G20 economic group.
"Indonesia also plays a major role in the integration agenda through the ASEAN-East Asia," World Bank Deputy President for Asia Pacific Victoria Kwa Kwa said here on Wednesday.
According to Kwa Kwa, the large number of young people is an important factor for growth in Indonesia, provided they have adequate education and skills.
The population of youth in Indonesia is the largest in Southeast Asia and the second largest in East Asia after China.
Therefore, capacity building of human resources forms one of the main programs of the World Bank in Indonesia. Vice President Jusuf Kalla is engaged with the issue.
"The development of human resources from the very early stages, such as nutrition for pregnant women, infants and children, and education, will create a strong basis for the development of all the people of Indonesia," Kwa Kwa noted.
Referring to the importance of the link between integration within the region to growth, the World Bank Vice President for Asia Pacific said each country will be able to work together more closely to achieve common prosperity.
"As a region, ASEAN can work together more closely to achieve regional initiatives," she added.
In her meeting with Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Kwa Kwa also reiterated the World Bank's commitment to continue supporting the Indonesian government's programs in various fields, including health, education and tourism. (WDY)
