Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The World Peace Forum (WPF), set to be held from November 1 to 4, 2016, will discuss issues related to violent extremism in relation to the cases of global injustice.
"We hope the 6th WPF will be able to promote and build a culture of non-violence," the Chairman of the Steering Committee of the 6th WPF, Chusnul Mariyah, said here on Tuesday.
She explained that the root causes of violent extremism are more widespread and these cannot be understood only in the context of war, but also through the prism of economic inequity.
"Hence, it is important to disseminate and promote a culture of non-violence," Chusnul underlined.
This year, the WPF will be held under the theme of "Violence Against Extremism: Human Dignity, Global Inequality and Shared Responsibility."
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Center for Dialogue and Cooperation Among Civilizations (CDCC), Din Syamsuddin, hoped the WPF will come up with a solution that explains why certain regions in the world are bereft of peace.
"We are concerned about the violence happening in this world. Through the WPF, we must seek to bring together the key figures working for world peace," the former Chairman of the Central Executive of Muhammadiyah, an Islamic organization, said.
The WPF is a world peace forum that calls for a harmonious life and propagated the theme of "One Humanity, One Destiny, One Responsibility." (WDY)
