Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesia will host the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Travel Mart 2016 at its newest convention center, the Indonesia Convention and Exhibition Hall at Bumi Serpong Damai, Banten Province, on September 7-9.
The PATA Travel Mart is fully supported by Indonesia's Ministry of Tourism and will be hosted by the country for the fourth time.
Recognized as the fifth-best tourism industry show in the world, the PATA Travel Mart had pioneered the pre-scheduled computerized appointments' contract show in the tourism industry for buyers to meet and discuss business with sellers.
The PATA Travel Mart is a business contract B2B show exclusively for PATA members and for this reason the event is not open to the public.
The travel show also offers pre- and post-convention tours for delegates. A half-day tour is also organized to Jakarta. Moreover, tours to Mt. Kelimutu and Flores to get a closer look at the Komodo dragons are undertaken. Other tours will include a trip to the scenic province of South Sulawesi or a trip to Banten to watch the once mighty Mt. Krakatau.
As many as one thousand delegates and 242 buyers from 25 countries have registered to attend the travel mart as of Aug. 10. The event is also expected to attract 226 sellers from 28 countries and 42 media outlets from 14 countries as well as 12 bloggers. Indonesia, as the host country, will field 50 seller organizations.
The largest number of buyers to date are from the Asia-Pacific region, constituting 32 percent from countries, including China, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan; 25 percent from European nations, such as Germany, France, the Netherlands, Spain, and Italy; 22 percent from the ASEAN countries; 10 percent from the Americas, including the United States, Canada, and Brazil; eight percent from Russia and Kazakhstan; and three percent from the Middle East, including the United Arab Emirates, Ika Nazarudin, project manager of PATA Travel Mart 2016, noted recently.
