Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesia and Japan have encouraged local-community-based tourism in Palestine to improve local people's welfare, according to a Foreign Affairs Ministry official.
"Indonesia and Japan encourage the development program in tourism sector to support development in Palestine," Ministry of Foreign Affairs Technical Cooperation Director Siti Nugraha Mauludiah remarked in a seminar of Palestinian tourism here on Wednesday.
She noted that local people must be trained to develop tourism industry and to encourage Indonesia and Palestine to move forward together to become a more prosperous country.
Besides, she added that hospitality being offered by the Palestinian community will also improve the comfort of tourists visiting the country.
Mauludiah expressed hope that the seminar on Palestinian tourism can also encourage a discussion about Palestinian and Indonesian efforts to develop tourism and antiquities in both countries.
In the meantime, Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA) Senior Representative Dinur Krismasari said Palestinian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, and JICA are cooperating in sustainable tourism development project through the public private partnership in Palestine.
She said the main objective of the cooperation is to promote and develop sustainable tourism in Palestine, and to encourage tourism as a tool to improve the welfare of life. (WDY)
