Antalya (Antara Bali) - Indonesia and China have agreed to step up
cooperation in the fields of economics and finance, including Chinese
assistance to support Indonesia remaining liquid.
"A lot of things have been discussed, such as follow-ups on our
previous meetings, and Chinas liquidity support, including an additional
20 billion US dollars," President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said following a
meeting with Chinese President Xi Jin Ping, on the sidelines of the G20
Summit here on Sunday.
The two countries also agreed to increase Chinese investment, which
means it will provide additional capital to Indonesia, he added.
Ari Dwipayana of the presidential communication team said President
Jokowi lauded the Chinese governments commitment to supporting
Indonesias financial sector through funding for Indonesian banking and
liquidity support.
Besides, President Xi also expressed his governments willingness to
increase the bilateral currently swap arrangement to some 20 billion US
dollars.
President Jokowi also asked the Chinese government to support
Indonesias candidates to fill the top managerial positions in the Asian
Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and to locate the first regional
office for AIIB in Jakarta.
The two leaders also discussed global financial issues, which became topics of discussion during the G20 Summit. (WDY)
