Kuta, Bali (Antara Bali) - Indonesian scientists and academics are
expected to make advances in the 5G technology and not just remain
merely a target market and users, Chairman of Indonesia 5G Forum (I5GF),
Sigit Puspito Wigati Jarot, said here on Monday.
At the Conference and Exhibition (Code) 2015 in Kuta, Bali, on
Monday, Indonesia 5G Forum signed a memorandum of cooperation with Japan
5G Mobile Forum (Japan 5GMF).
Indonesia established I5GF on July 1, 2015.
"It is time for Indonesian scientists to make quantum leaps to achieve a decisive edge in 5G technology," Sigit said.
According to him, Indonesian human resources are capable of developing 5G technology, but they are not organized.
He noted that 5G connectivity technology has been discussed amongst
academics, industry experts and telecom operators worldwide.
Indonesia, the 4th largest mobile market in the world with the
number of mobile communication subscribers reaching 287 million in 2015,
will continue to grow and attain an important position in the
communication technology.
"Indonesia should be able to determine suitable 5G technology
standards which, according to the national conditions and character,
will include rules and the type of devices that will be used next by the
market," he said.
Code, that began on September 21, will continue till September 23,
2015, and will feature discussions among global experts in such
information and telecommunication technologies as 5G technology,
internet security, and chaos theory approach to address the challenges
