Colombia Can Serve As Entry Point For Indonesia's Exports

Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesia can make Colombia its partner to open trade access to the Latin American market, according to the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

"Indonesia is preparing a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement with Colombia that will serve as a gateway to the Latin American market," Deputy for Trade and International Economic Cooperation Chris Kanter affirmed here on Monday (September 14).

He said if Colombia could serve as an entry point, then Indonesia would be able to expand its market share of exports to Latin America.

He noted that in future, both Colombia and Indonesia will continue to communicate and explore investment opportunities.

In addition, he stated that Colombia is a member of the Pacific Alliance, which comprises the four countries of Mexico, Peru, Chile, and Colombia, and hence, it will encourage the free movement of goods and services as well as natural and human resources.

"Colombia is one of the countries with the most substantial economic growth in Latin America," Kanter pointed out.

Therefore, Indonesia should be able to seize opportunities to invest in Colombia. According to Kanter, only a few Indonesian businessmen have invested in Colombia.

"We should explore the Latin American market. The government and industry chambers have already launched cooperation between Indonesia and Colombia," he added. (WDY)
