Construction Of 35 Thousand MW Power Plants To Boost Industry

Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The construction of power plants, with a combined capacity 35 thousand megawatts (MW), in five years will support the development of the nation's industry sector, Presidential Staff Head Teten Masduki stated here, Thursday, (September 10).

"The president considers electricity to be an important factor to support the national industry," he noted.

According to Masduki, the construction of power plants, with a total capacity of 35 thousand MW, within five years is not an easy task, considering the regulatory system that must be adhered to and met.

Therefore, the government is providing land to support the electricity infrastructure projects.

He pointed out that in the next five years, Indonesia needs a huge supply of power to cope with the threat of power crisis in 2019.

"The 35 thousand MW power plants are a necessity. We must prepare to cope with the energy crisis, which is estimated to occur in 2019," Masduki remarked.

The construction of the power plants will take at least four years, and therefore, construction should commence immediately.

"The construction of infrastructure cannot be delayed, otherwise we would have to face a shortage of electricity," Masduki added. (WDY)
