Jakarta (Antara
Bali) - The State Audit Board (BPK) will help the government achieve the
target of constructing power plants with a combined capacity of 35
thousand megawatts.
"We must support the project to cater to the
anticipated demand for electrical power in the future and the BPK audits
the use of state funds," BPK member Rizal Djalil said here on Monday.
He
made the remarks after attending a coordination meeting to discuss a
follow up to the BPK's audit of the Energy and Mineral Resources
Ministry.
At the meeting held at the Bandung Institute of
Technology (ITB), Rizal said the BPK found many factors impeding the
construction of electrical power plants. These problems related to land
clearance, financing and lack of regional governments' initiative.
"Based
on the findings, we conclude that problems continue to persist
regarding land and financing. If we use the PPP scheme, we must be
financially prepared. Otherwise, we will face many problems," he said.
Furthermore,
the state electricity company, PT PLN, cannot build power plants itself
because it still faces problems related to efficiency and debts.(WDY)
