Prices Of Oil Palm Fruits Begins To Pick Up

Samarinda, East Kalimantan (Antara Bali) - The prices of oil palm fresh fruit  bunches (FFB) began to pick up  in July in East Kalimantan after being on the decline since May.

Increases were recorded in the prices of all types of FFB in age from 3 years to 25 years.

The price of 10-year FFB  was recorded at Rp1,589.14 per kilogram (kg) in April,down to Rp1,572.82 per kg in May and to Rp1,495.82  in June .

"On July 1 the price rose to Rp1,534.26 per kg," chairman of price fixing team in East Kalimantan  Mochammad Yusuf said here on Wednesday.

Yusuf, who is also head of the business section of the regional plantation office , said the price hike followed an increase in the prices of crude palm oil (CPO) in international market.

He said hopefully the trend  would continue that the farmers would be encouraged to tend their crop after long slump.    

He said the price is set by the FFB price determining team.

The prices of 3-year old FFB rose to Rp1,345.26 per kg  from Rp1,311.54 per kg a month earlier, and that of 4-year old FFB up to Rp1,373.87 .

Meanwhile, the CPO price  rose to Rp7,371.66 per kg  from Rp7.132.20 per kg.

Indonesia is the largest producer and supplier of CPO in them world. (WDY)
