Thai Marine Corps Hails Indonesian Navy's Offer for Joint Exercise

Surabaya, E Java (Antara Bali) -- A delegation of the Royal Thai Marines Corps (RTMC) has warmly welcomed the Indonesian Navy Marine Corps' offer to conduct a joint exercise.

The Thai delegation, which is taking part in Sea Garuda 18AB-15, immediately held a meeting to discuss the planned joint exercise with its Indonesian counterpart at RTMC Division Base in Sattahip, Thailand, on Friday, the Indonesian Marine Corps said in an official statement released on Saturday.

Lt. Col. Raja Erjan Girsang led the Indonesian delegation to the meeting, which was started with the screening of a video on RTCM's profile and joint exercises with several other countries.

At the meeting, the five-member Indonesian delegation was briefed by Deputy Commanding General of the RTMC Marine Division Capt. Chawalil Charlil on the organization and history of RTMC.

A video on the profile of the Indonesian Navy Marine Corps was also screened at the meeting.

Representatives of the RTMC, comprising officers of operation staff and officers of each RTMC combat unit, who were present at the meeting paid their respects to the Indonesian Navy after watching the video and receiving explanations from the chief of the Indonesian delegation on the organization and weaponry of the Indonesia Navy Marine Corps.

Moreover, RTMC Division Commander Rear Admiral Kar-Harn Ped-me-Sit was delighted to receive the Indonesian Navy Marine Corps and hailed the planned joint exercise.

Both sides hope that the joint exercise will enhance military cooperation, particularly to ensure regional stability and security. (WDY)
