Jakarta (Antara Bali) - A joint task forces to be formed by the police, prosecution office, and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will handle only particular corruption cases.
"The task force is to handle only complicated cases investigation of which is confronted with technical and non technical barriers that a breakthrough is required," said acting chairman of the KPK Taufiequrachman Ruki said here on Tuesday.
On Monday Taufiequrachman Ruki and another KPK leader Johan Budi SP, police chief Gen. Badrodin Haiti and Attorney General HM Prasetyo met at the attorney general office discussing the forming of a task force to handle cases of corruption.
A routine coordinating meeting will be held alternately at attorney general office, police office and KPK office.
"The task force is ad hoc in nature, to handle cases together. After the cases have been handed over to court the task force would be dissolved," Ruki said.
Coordination and supervision between the three law enforcement agencies will continue for cases handled by separately by police and the prosecution office.
Another acting leader of KPK Indriyanto Seno Adji said the goal of forming the task force is to create integrity of law enforcement agencies.
"Anti corruption task force is a form of synergy between law enforcement agencies in handling corruption cases that needs cooperation between the agencies," Indriyanto said.
He said cooperation between the three law enforcement agencies would be more effective in eradicating corruption in the country.
He said sometimes police and prosecutors face difficulties in carrying out investigation of alleged corruption such as when involving state apparatuses.
Cooperation with KPK, therefore is needed, he added.
The joint task force would be made up of officials of KPK, police and prosecution office, Johan Budi said.
He said KPK received many reports of alleged corruption from the people that it is impossible for KPK alone to effectively handle them all.
"For example, if police has politically linked cases of corruption they may need the support of KPK and KPK would give its support," he said. (WDY)
