Denpasar, Bali (Antara Bali) - The electrification ratio on the island is 85.6 percent, stated General Manager of state-owned electricity distribution company (PLN) in Bali Syamsul Huda.
"Generally, the electrification ratio in Bali is 85.6 percent. There are districts that have lower ratio such as Bangli at 65 percent, but there are also other districts having a higher ratio such as Badung and Gianyar," Huda noted.
According to Huda, Bali has not been able to achieve 100 percent electrification ratio as there are some areas in the province that cannot be accessed using land transportation.
"There are many houses in villages that cannot be reached by car as there are no roads. However, a car is the only vehicle needed to install electricity poles and other equipment," Huda remarked.
The local administration should immediately build roads to meet the electricity need in the villages.
PLN in Bali is targeting an increase in electricity consumption by 12.96 percent in 2015.
"It does not mean that the people should extravagantly use electricity. It must be used as needed, and we encourage the growth of up to 12.96 percent per year," Huda said, adding that the electricity consumption in Bali in 2014 grew by 10.75 percent.
This number is smaller than the growth of power plants, which is 16 percent in a year, he added. (WDY)
